Configuring Your Hosted Email Account

We recommend and support customers using Microsoft Outlook 2003 or later and the current version of Windows Live Mail.  Microsoft Outlook requires proper licensing, but Windows Live Mail is available for free (visit http://explore.live.com/windows-live-mail).

To setup your email client, add a new account to your program.  The program wizard will ask you for the various settings.

POP Server: mail.yourdomain.com   (example: mail.infotectdesign.com)

SMTP Server: idsmail.infotectdesign.com    (this is the same for all customers)

Username: email_address@yourdomain.com   (your username is your full email address)

Password:  *******  (enter your password)

Check the option for "My server requires authentication" and click SETTINGS to confirm it uses the same settings as your incoming mail server.

Here is a screenshot of the screen appearance after the wizard is done:

Once you confirm these settings are correct, click the SETTINGS button to review the Outgoing Mail Server options (see image below).

Mobile Devices

All major smartphones support POP3 and IMAP email synchronization.  You can use the same settings as your Outlook client for your mobile device.  The most important consideration is to make sure you set the smartphone to LEAVE MESSAGES ON THE SERVER.  This is usually a check box setting and prevents the phone from removing the email from our server before your Outlook client is able to download it.

You may also want to set your Outlook client to the same setting to prevent it from receiving a message thus removing it before your phone can get a copy.  If you set your Outlook to leave messages on the server, please make sure you set it to DELETE after a specified number of days or upon deletion from your Outlook.  Your server mailbox is size restricted and you will have problems trying to leave all of your email on our server.

The most common problem with mobile device settings is the username and password.  Please test your login via the web site interface to confirm you have the correct information before configuring your mobile device.
